
Tuna Pasta Bake
A comforting tuna pasta bake with a light tomato sauce using simple everyday ingredients.
Ingredients
- •75 g Dried penne pasta
- •100 g Tuna in spring water, drained
- •¼ Large onion, finely diced
- •½ Red pepper, diced
- •1 clove Garlic, crushed
- •1½ tsp Tomato purée
- •100 g Passata
- •½ tsp Dried mixed herbs
- •15 g Reduced-fat Cheddar cheese, grated
- •To taste Freshly ground black pepper

Saucepan, large frying pan, ovenproof dish
Method
- 1Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan).
- 2Bring a saucepan of water to the boil and cook the penne according to the packet instructions until just al dente.
- 3While the pasta is cooking, heat a large frying pan over a medium heat. Add the onion and cook for 4–5 minutes until softened.
- 4Stir in the garlic and red pepper and cook for 2 minutes.
- 5Add the tomato purée and cook for 1 minute, stirring continuously.
- 6Pour in the passata and stir in the dried mixed herbs. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- 7Fold the drained tuna into the sauce and heat gently for 2 minutes.
- 8Drain the pasta and stir it into the sauce until evenly coated.
- 9Transfer the mixture to an ovenproof dish and sprinkle with the grated reduced-fat Cheddar.
- 10Bake for 12–15 minutes, until the cheese has melted and turned lightly golden.
- 11Finish with freshly ground black pepper and serve immediately.
